Monday Muzak LII: Luminous Lumines

Lumines featured a mechanic incorporating sound and light into a time-based match game. It remains addictive to this day. Its sequel, Lumines II, offered a variety of levels based on various artist's music videos. Musicians and groups like Beck, Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Stefani, and the Chemical Brothers were thrown into the mix. The latter had a level featuring one of my favorites. Star Guitar. The song itself is your standard techno fare, but the video is another concoction from the mind of Michel Gondry. The way the video creates real-world representations of the sounds and instruments used throughout the song goes hand-in-hand with the game's implementation of player-induced sound. I dig it.
