Monday Muzak XXIV: Beneath the Canopy

Foresty tracks in the SNES days were the bee's knees. Secret of Mana, A Link to the Past, Mega Man X, Final Fantasy III, and even Super Metroid (Brinstar is a forest, right?) featured songs that resonated with their own respective theme and setting. Not only were they a solid representation of their environment, but they also spoke volumes of the overall game's atmosphere.

Guardia Forest's BGM, "Secret of the Forest", is one of my favorites. The whimsical instruments with a hint of mystery and mysticism sung a fairly powerful tale for a relatively small area in the game. It is, however, a spot you frequently return to, and see numerous versions of throughout the game. Players are bound to connect with familarity like that whether they realize it or not.
